Crawfordsburn Beach

Crawfordsburn Beach, part of Crawfordsburn Country Park is a popular visitor destination sited on the shores of Belfast Lough, being approximately 700m long with sand a rocky shoreline at either end. It is gently shelving and generally considered to be safe for bathing. Bathers are advised to stay out of the sea 48hrs after heavy rainfall. Avoid bathing in the Burn or river mouth. The beach is framed by the North Down Coastal Path, a 16 mile walking route between Holywood & Orlock. The Crawford’s Burn enters the sea in the middle of the beach. A large area of Belfast Lough is designated as a Ramsar site, a Special Protection Area and an Area of Special Scientific Interest in recognition of the habitat it provides for large numbers of birds and also important geological rock features which are evident along its shores.
